Set up and Applications of Blaine’s Air Permeability Apparatus
The Blaine’s Air Permeability Apparatus comprises of a manometer U tube mounted on a polished wooden stand, a permeability cell with a perforated disc and plunger, a suction bulb and connecting rubber tube.
Blaine Air Permeability Apparatus is used for determining the fineness of cement. Blaine’s Air Permeability Apparatus measures the specific surface area of fine materials in centimeters square / gram of the test sample or specimen. By Blaine’s Air Permeability Apparatus, a quantity of air is drawn through a bed of definite porosity. The rate of airflow is determined by the pore volume in the bed, this pore volume is a function of the size of the constituent particles.
